World War Z

Variety reports that Quantum of Solace director Marc Forster wil next direct horror thriller World War Z. The novel is pitched as an historical document telling of a zombie apocalypse, ten years after the fact.

Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski is on scripting duty for the Paramount film.

Forster says "the genre always fascinated me, and when they pitched it to me, it reminded me of the paranoid conspiracy films of the '70s like 'All the President's Men."

Watchmen

One of a series of new character led posters for the forthcoming graphic novel adaptation.  The others can be found over at Empire Online

Star Trek

This Empire article has a detailed breakdown of the 20 minutes of footage of the new Star Trek film which was shown to journalists in London recently, including details of Leonard Nimoy's appearance.

The whole teenage / rebellious young Kirk idea doesnt sound overly appealing, but apparently the action sequences should win over a more mainstream audiences than previous trek films have been able to.

Oldboy

Please god no...

I'm just going to link to the original story as I don't know what to say about this, save that this is possibly the greatest mismatch between director and material I have heard in a long time.

Book of Blood

Trailer for the forthcoming horror film based on the Clive Barker short story. Apparently this is one of a number of films based on the 'Books of Blood' series that Barker has in the pipeline. The film is supposedly due out in 2008, but given that there is no firm release date expect to see this get pushed ack to next year.

Pink Panther 2

I'm kind of surprised to see this, given that nobody particularly liked the first one, but here's a trailer for the sequel to Steve Martin's Pink Panther remake.
