Casting calls have gone out for the Jason Vorhees role in the forthcoming Friday the 13th remake. Producers have sent the following descriptions to casting agencies:-
JASON VOORHEES: Caucasian, fair complexion, Late 20's, Early 30's, stunt man. He is thin, lean, and cut from living off the land and residing in the forest around Crystal Lake...
YOUNG JASON VOORHEES: Caucasian, fair complexion, older, smaller, kid to play 9 or 10 years of age..
The above suggests that Vorhees plays a large role in the film, which confirms that this film will be a strict remake of the original Friday 13th, but instead follow the route of the sequels.
Filming begins next month with Marus Nispel in the directors chair.

Sympathy for Lady Vengeance USA
Charlize Thereon has revealed she is in talks to star in an American remake of Park Chan Wook's Korean thriller, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance.
The original tells of a woman who is incarcerated for 13 years for a murder she didnt commit, before being released and setting off on a path of revenge against those that wronged her.
It appears that the director is involved in the remake to some extent, with Theron quoted as saying "he came to me and said he really wanted us to do this. He wanted to see that story told in an American society."
With the Oldboy remake seemingly dead in the water, this appears to be the film most liekly to introduce a mainstream audience to Chan Wook's unique worldview, depending of course on how much survives the Hollywood studio system.

Heavy Metal
In today's second remake news, plans are afoot for a revival of Heavy Metal, the 80's animated fantasy film. This new version is intended to be a portmentau effort , under the supervision of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle creator Kevin Eastman. The film, like the original, will be R rated.
The biggest news on the project however is that David Fincher has been tapped to direct one of the segments, which opens up some interesting possibilities as to what the Fight Club auteur will produce in the animated medium. Other big name directors will apparently be announced in the near future

Robocop
Rumours have been swirling for a while that MGM planned a relaunch of the Robocop franchise, however a new press release suggests that the film may be closer to fruition than previously thought, with the remake being listed amongst MGM's 2008/2009 slate.
The original Robocop is only 20 years old, and still a pretty good film. The big question is whether any remake would keep the dark comedy and social satire of the original, or follow the increasingly bland sequels.

Singer also acknowledges the critics od the first film:-

Rambo 5
Following the surprise success of Rambo, Swedish newspaper Metro has an interview with Stallone in which he gives more details about his plans for a further sequel.
Stallone is quoted as saying:
"I would like to take Rambo to another genre, experiment a little with the character. It would definitely not be another war movie. I can't go any further with that than what I've already done. What it's going to be like, I'm not going to reveal at this point. But I'm already halfway though writing the manuscript."

The first images of Marky Mark in character as 'Max Payne' have emerged on the web. The film, based on a popular computer game, tells of a tough NYPD Detective who goes on the run after being framed for the murder of his entire family.
Computer games rarely make good films, but with Wahlberg and director John Moore involved, this sounds more promising than most, despite the rumoured PG-13 rating.
