The Spirit

Little Shop of Horrors

The 1986 usical version of Little Shop of Horrors originally had a much different ending. Unfortunately test audiences deemed the finale too dark, and despite supposedly costing millions of dollars the ending was junked and an unsatisfying 'happy ending' conclusion tacked on.

The original ending was included as part of the special features on the first pressing of the DVD, but that release was rapidly recalled as a result of a disagreement with the producer. As a result the footage has been rarely seen.

However, a copy of the footage has now found its way on to the wonder that is Youtube and can be found (until it is inevitably pulled down by Warner Brothers) in three parts below.

The footage is poor quality, but if better footage exists this is a film crying out for a directors cut.

Alice In Wonderland

A few websites are running this image which purports to show Johnny Depp as the mad hatter in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. The image looks clearly photoshopped, but the question remains as to whether this is fake or concept art. The question also remains as to what Depp is doing with that bunny.

Race to Witch Mountain

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson aims for a family audience with this remake of 1975's Escape from Witch Mountain. A better version of the trailer is now available at Yahoo! Movies.

The Wrestler

Robotech

Smallville creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have been hired to pen the screenplay for Warner Bros.' live action anime adaptation Robotech.

Best known to western audiences from the heavily edited and dubbed version that was a mainstay of Saturday morning TV in the eighties, The Hollywood Reporter describes the new Robotech as "a sprawling sci-fi epic, which takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off an alien invasion, with the fate of the human race ending up in the hands of two young pilots."

Star Trek
